Surrey Events 2011-2012

Conditions of Entry and Participation                                 Table of events         Print this page

Entry Qualification
Generally, entry to all Surrey competitions is open to any player who is a member of the EBU. However, entry to the Lady Rose Cup and the County Pairs is restricted to players who are primary members of the SCBA. Participants in these two events may not represent any County other than Surrey during the current season. Special events (Novice and Intermediate events colour coded blue) are open to non-members of the EBU.

Any player participating in a Surrey competition who fails to meet the entry requirement will be disqualified

Events are colour coded for players as follows:

Member only: only open to primary members of Surrey
Open: all players must be members of the EBU. Those not members of Surrey will have to become affiliate members
Affiliated Club: all players must be members of a Surrey affiliated club
League: open to all EBU members. The lowest division of any league (if there is more than 1 division) is also open to non-EBU members
Special: open to any player, whether an EBU member or not

Where eligibility for an event depends upon master point rank achieved or master points earned, such eligibility will be determined by reference to the rank achieved or points earned as of the date of the event.

Entries and Fees
Entries to all events except Green-pointed pairs and teams, League and Knock-out events should be submitted using the Competition entry web page, otherwise by email to , or telephone: 01252 679883 or by post: Competitions Secretary,  Caradoc,  Horseshoe Lane, Ash Vale, Hampshire, GU12 5LL
Entries should NOT be accompanied by entry fees which instead should be paid, preferably in cash, on arrival at the venue.
For League and Knock-out events, entries accompanied by entry fees should be sent to the Competition Secretary - address as above. Please make cheques payable to 'SCBA'. Please use the entry form which can be found on the Competitions entry web page.
For September green pointed Swiss pairs and teams, please complete the entry form that can be downloaded from the Competition entry web page.

Entry fees include table money and, where stated, the cost of refreshments.
Juniors (under 25) pay half stated price.

Attendance
Players are expected to attend if they enter or they have been informed that they have qualified for an event. If withdrawal is unavoidable, the players concerned must inform the Chief Tournament Director or another member of the Committee at the earliest opportunity, This is VITAL in the case of last minute withdrawal so that the start of the event is not delayed. Non-attendance without proper notice is regarded as a serious offence by the Committee and disciplinary action may follow.
Players are expected to arrive and check in at the event at least five minutes before the advertised starting time. Failure to do so may result in either a fine of match points, or exclusion from the event.

Permitted systems
The use of systems and conventions up to and including level 4 is permitted in all Surrey events unless otherwise stated.

Results
Full results will be posted on Results web page. Provisional results will also be available at the end of play at week-end events.

Master points and prizes
Master points earned in Surrey events will be credited directly to members' accounts at the EBU.

Prize amounts shown are estimates per pair or team. The amount actually paid will be dependant upon the size of the entry.

Starting and finishing times
Mid-week events start at 7.30pm. Week-end events start at 1pm. Week-end single session events will finish by 6pm, and two session events by 8.30pm. Estimated finish time are included in each event description.
